According to the U.S. Department of Education, burglary is one of the most common crimes on college campuses. When valuable university assets and student safety are at stake, higher education institutions should do everything possible to maintain a secure campus. KeyTrak will teach campus law enforcement agencies how its electronic key control systems can improve their key security at the International Associate of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) Annual Conference and Exposition from June 24 to 27 in Phoenix, AZ. KeyTrak’s systems limit unauthorized access to keys and provide a 100 percent automatic verifiable audit trail.

“A crucial part of increasing campus safety and security is restricting access to keys and being able to accurately show who took a key from the system and when,” said KeyTrak Vice President of Sales Richard Battle. “Your student body should feel safe on campus, and automating the key control process can help your college reduce the risk of loss, liability and lawsuits.”

KeyTrak’s high-security system, called the Guardian Versatile SmartPanel (VSP), allows users to store keys in a tamper-resistant steel panel. It can control access to sensitive keys by allowing users to lock down each key ring individually, physically preventing unauthorized users from obtaining keys. Users are authenticated via one or more methods, such as the built-in fingerprint reader, an optional proximity card reader or user-specific passcodes.

To increase accountability, the Guardian VSP has the ability to send administrators text alerts for invalid logon attempts, overdue keys, etc.
